Rory Bakke is the founder and president of Sustainable Concepts Studio. She started the company in 2009 to leverage her experience in environmental strategy and program development to help businesses and public agencies shift more rapidly to sustainable systems and practices.

As the founder and leader of The StopWaste Partnership, Rory received public recognition, including the State of California's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (2001) and Acterra's Business Environmental Award for Sustainability Education (2002).

Bakke possesses a talent for building public-private coalitions to improve local, regional and statewide environmental policies; formulating strategic win-win solutions; and designing business outreach campaigns for environmental education and change. She has a reputation for building powerful partnerships that simultaneously advance the three E’s of sustainability: Economy, Environment and Equity. She has developed and managed multi-million dollar budgets and contracts, several enduring business environmental coalitions, a wide variety of environmental grants programs. She is a a frequent presenter at conferences, workshops and public meetings.

In 2006-07, Bakke served on the Mayor of Oakland’s Green Economy Task Force. Other accomplishments include founding the California Sustainable Business Council and being selected to serve as a CORO Fellow in Public Affairs in Los Angeles. She recently enhanced her focus on sustainable business strategy and communications by attending the Presidio Graduate School MBA Program in Sustainable Management and by completing the Presidio School’s Executive Program in Sustainable Business Management. She is a member of the Northern California Resource Recovery Association, the California Resource Recovery Association and several sustainability organizations.
